March 27, 2023

Basic Energy Corp.’s “Basic Recharge” station for electric vehicles (EVs) opened last week at the EcoOil station along Edsa southbound. It offers fast and rapid charging and a variety of connectors to service different EV models available in the Philippines.

MANILA  -Basic Energy Corp. has opened an electric vehicle (EV) charging station along one of the country’s busiest thoroughfares as part of its renewable energy transport program.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary Basic Energy Renewables Corp. and partner Ecology Energy Corp., the company launched “Basic Recharge Station” at the EcoOil Station along Edsa southbound.

“This will service the EV motoring public, who now own or are considering to acquire EVs to benefit from the growing shift to a transport landscape that is both environmentally impactful and economical,” the company said in a statement.

The station offers fast charging and a variety of connectors to service the different vehicle models available in the Philippines. It can simultaneously recharge up to three EVs.

The company said the project was essential in advancing its Green Energy E-Transport Program, which promotes the use of renewable energy to power both private and public utility vehicles.

Under the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, EVs must comprise 5 percent of the total fleet of industrial and commercial companies, public utility operators, local government units, national government agencies and government-owned and -controlled corporations.

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines said there were 13,934 registered EVs in the country as of 2021.
